Bond yields, not war headlines, are driving TQQQ's slide

Legacy public analysis

BEARISH

Rising bond yields are repricing tech stocks, and this decline hasn't hit a panic low yet, so we stay cautious on TQQQ.

Watch: Crude oil inventories — a draw pushes yields higher · 10-year Treasury yield holding above Monday's high · TQQQ 68.25 — losing yesterday's low turns this messier

This is a bond-market sell-off, not a war story. Global bond yields hit 2008-era highs Monday, and the 10-year Treasury yield is the highest since January 2025. European and UK markets fell further this morning as natural gas prices rose. That's why Nvidia's $500 billion AI financing deal did nothing — TQQQ still fell 3.9% that day. Private hiring data (ADP) missed too: 38,000 jobs added versus 47,000 expected.

The drop has been orderly, not panicked — there's been no panic selling yet, and it's hitting the whole market evenly, not just one sector. TQQQ is still 13% above its 200-day average, leaving room to fall further. We'd want Friday's jobs report and a real Middle East de-escalation headline before trusting a bounce.
